Topologically preoptimized ground structure (TPOGS) for the optimization of 3D RC buildings

Abstract As an optimization that starts from a randomly selected structure generally does not guarantee reasonable optimality, the use of systemic approach, named ground structure, is widely accepted in steel-made truss and frame structural design. However, case reinforced concrete (RC) optimization, because orthogonal orientation members, chosen or architect-sketched framing used. Such one-time fixed layout trend, addition to its lack necessarily optimality. In this study, approach for generating candidate be used cost weight minimization 3D RC building structures with included slabs developed. A multiobjective function at floor stage single objective are considered. particle swarm (PSO) method employed selecting optimal structure. This enables simple, yet potential, real-world representation topologically preoptimized while both main architectural requirements supported by study different domain sizes.
